About:

Key From The Stars is a short text-based puzzle-adventure game that you can play in your browser. Try to escape a manor that you have found yourself in and learn the world around you.

Created using HTML, Javascript, and CSS. Based on a school project originally coded in Python.

How to Play:

Use your keyboard to type commands into the console and hit Enter to submit them. (hint: type "help" for list of commands)

Use the Up/Down Arrows to cycle through past commands for quick access.

Click the Sound Icon at the bottom of the screen to mute/unmute game audio.

General Tips

• Use the "help" command to see the room's objects and valid directions.
• Also use the "help" command to check the valid keys for each command.
• Every item and room are important; you will do something with/in each.
• Keep talking to the NPCs; they have a lot to say.
• Just try stuff; it might help you work things out.

• Leaving the starting cell

  • The lock on the cell door is rusty. Maybe you could pull it off with something?
  • Answer

    1. Take the blanket from the bed.
    2. Use the blanket on the cell door.
• Chest Master's Riddle

  • What is a number that relates to equal and opposite reactions, something strong, bears, goats, and pigs, and battery elements?
  • Answer

    3 (Newtons' Third Law, triangles, fairy tales, lithium)
• Twin Snakes' Riddle

  • Each is looking for a specific object. Something formed by heat and pressure.
  • Answer

    • Shiny Rock

      • Something fancy like this is probably found in some sort of treasury.
      • Answer

        1. Get the scrap of paper from the bed chamber.
        2. Check your inventory and translate the morse code.
        3. Enter the code into the vault door in the study.
        4. Use the hammer from the forge to smash the glass case in the treasury.
    • Smelly Rock

      • Something gross like this is probably found in some sort of sewer.
      • Answer

        1. There's something in the river in the sewer.
        2. Pick up the book from the floor in the study.
        3. It's referring to clogs. Clog the toilet in your cell.
        4. Go back to the now drained sewer river and take it.
• Keys

  • Each key is made of a different material. Do you have those materials and a way to shape them?
  • Answer

    • Iron

      1. Take the lock from the floor of your cell.
      2. Use the lock on the furnace in the forge
    • Gold

      1. Take the coin from the floor of the treasury.
      2. Use the coin on the furnace in the forge.
    • Meteorite

      1. Answer the Chest Master's Riddle to receive a pickaxe.
      2. Use the pickaxe on the meteorite in the ruin.
      3. Use the meteorite shard on the furnace in the forge.
    • Big

      1. Talk to the Twin Snakes. They say the key is in their home.
      2. Go back to the bed chamber.
      3. Take the big key you now see in the terrarium.
